As group work is more prevalent, the tools to support these exchanges will be important: tools for virtual connection, tools for access to information, tools for externalization, and tools for embedding. Work has become more complex for many and helping individuals work more effectively in groups will be a goal for the workplace.

Space Division
Given the ever-changing nature of work within the open plan, spaces feel better and are more legible when contained according to activity and purpose. Also, as more open group spaces become more integrated, spaces will need elements to divide and make sense of the space while supporting other needs within the space. Virtual connection, group externalization, and group storage are all ways to enhance space division while supporting the workspace.

We are closer than ever to being untethered from power, but we are not there yet. Exploration into batteries, robotics, Al, and wireless power could change how we use space and work within our settings.
